Last week I posed this question to you on Instagram: “Fill in the blank. _____ has been a disaster for the human race.”
The responses were thought-provoking and diverse, so much so that I was compelled to add my thoughts on them. I have reproduced them here in one article for ease of reading.
Processed food
If it comes in a box or was made in a factory, chances are it’s toxic shit that’s bad for you.
The older you get the more you realize that old saying is correct:
If your grandmother wouldn’t recognize it as food, don’t eat it.
Marvel
Marvel fans and associated nerds can seethe but it’s the truth.
The psychic impact of Marvel movies has been an unmitigated disaster, as it abolishes actual, attainable heroism from real people and sublimates it onto LITERAL gods and superhumans.
In such a world there is no longer any need for personal improvement, discipline, training or character building. Just be born to billionaire papa or zapped by lightning or bitten by insect. Zero agency for normal human beings in these stories. Leading to zero responsibility for own life.
In other words, in the long run Marvel fandom turns everyone into a Reddit moderator: Soy, pasty, irresponsible, weak.
The comment sections
Comments section is rarely useful. Most are cancerous. Filled with snark gremlins who only know how to critique, never to create. Avoid wherever possible!
The Enlightenment
The Enlightenment was a total scam.
Transferring the apex of cosmic order from God to Man has led to nihilism and degeneracy of all sorts.
We went from being the stewards of creation and the Imago Dei to hairless apes scrounging in the dirt on some insignificant orb.
In the name of almighty “Reason.”
Fallible and frail human reason.
What sane individual thinks this was an upgrade?
Greed and impulsivity
I don’t think there is anything wrong per se with these.
Greed is a natural impulse, encompassing the main human desires for More, Better, and Different. The poison is in the dose, not the thing itself.
Impulsivity is a bit more complex since for every instance where impulsive behavior has led people to ruin, there’s an equal opposing instance of it leading to some incredible benefit.
Harness greed and make it the fuel for your engine.
Harness impulsivity and know when to toggle it on/off. Take full advantage.
Fitfluencers
This is the real pandemic: Gymshart wearing dorks who do ballerina sports at gym for TikTok instead of the actual work that produces results.
True, effective fitness is boring. It doesn’t look eye catching or exciting (most of the time, anyway). That makes it hard to monetise or post on social media.
That’s why fitfluencers gotta keep hustling with crazy HIIT complexes and tricks.
But they don’t actually incorporate any of that crap into their real training.
Political correctness
Self explanatory.
Onlyfans
Onlyfans is not the disaster.
It is only the flowering of an evil tree that has taken root over the last century. Which is the atomization of men, women, and distortion of true sexuality and sensuality.
It is sad because it doesn’t actually empower anyone. Everyone involved is a victim of some sort. Sad coomers spending their hard earned $$$ on an e-girl who will never know them or love them.
Sad girls soft prostituting themselves and selling bits of their soul to earn money that will never buy them what they want most: love, affection, protection and care.
It’s devilish really.
Overpopulation
This is a big one for me.
You pro-life? Then by that logic you should want people to reproduce responsibly and ensure that their precious children can grow up to enjoy the full fruits of this Earth.
The Earth can comfortably support 2 billion people. 3 billion at best. By that I mean a reasonably comfortable and materially prosperous life with dignity.
8 billion doesn’t work. 10 billion, hell no. No infinite growth on a finite planet. Something has to give.
Anyway, whether you like it or not, the correction is on its way.
Frogs
Frogs will outlast us all, my friend.
Porn (more recently and severely internet pornography
Pornography has always existed. We are hardly the first civilization to have discovered it. In primitive times it was not widely distributed or consumed so was not so much of a problem.
But high-speed internet and smartphones have made it possible to access porn anywhere, at all times, with zero restriction or limits. And it’s not mild stuff.
I have 12-year olds in my classes who have been exposed to more degenerate shit than the most hardcore X-rated movies from the 20th century.
The human mind is simply not built to take in that much supranatural sexual stimulation.
Not a coincidence that ED is at an all time high. WORLDWIDE.
Warfare
I’ll take this to mean industrial warfare.
War has always been with us and always will be. I strongly believe, and the evidence supports it, that violence is a defining characteristic of Homo Sapiens,
In ancestral times war was extremely limited, being fought by the nobility and warrior castes. Collateral damage was minimal because both sides were governed by codes of conduct and honor. And fear of Divine retribution.
You saw every bead of sweat and facial expression as you killed a man.
There is nothing honorable about modern warfare. Just mash buttons on a keypad and the drone will take card of it. Entire village vaporised with one click.
Dehumanising.
Humanism and its consequences (Pt.1)
We put humans at the Center of the universe. Look where that got us.
All time high depression, anxiety, anomie, loss of purpose in life. Loss of VITALITY.
Humanism is a gross and arrogant philosophy.
Man is not the measure of all things. Never can be. How could this be when we are just finite beings trying to navigate an infinite universe?
The human mind is too small to comprehend even a fraction of what’s Out There. Let alone be the standard by which we interpret Reality.
The siege against Romanticism and its consequences (Pt.2)
I see Romanticism as an effort to course-correct the more egregious error of Humanism but it didn’t go far enough.
I think it fetishizes emotions and nature a little bit too much. The naturalistic fallacy exists for a reason. That’s why Rousseau could never be right no matter how hard he tried.
But Romanticism was a step in the right direction and the movement against it has been a detriment to us all.
Most dating apps
I’ve got nothing against dating apps. If it works for you, it works. Some people find it difficult to meet people in real life.
Dating apps are probably OK.
The promiscuity and hookup culture surrounding dating apps? Absolutely haram.
It will corrode your soul.
Cancel culture
Cancel culture delenda est.
TikTok
The CURRENT culture surrounding it is quite unpleasant and in some cases vile. Because it is a bastion for perverts and coomers and thots.
But overall it’s just another platform, another weapon which can be wielded for good or bad.
Harness all weapons and use them to your advantage.
We can reclaim Instagram. We can reclaim Twitter. We can reclaim TikTok.
Need to get more good people on that platform and conquer.
Feminism
All gender ideologies will crumble and fade away.
And I mean ALL.
Modern gender ideology could only have come into existence because we are so comfortable and prosperous.
Creating problems that don’t exist. People who are focusing on survival or creating wealth/value don’t have time to think about pronouns or alphabet soup.
Men and women throughout history have ALWAYS relied on each other. What is the division of labor. What is the oikos nomos. They know what we have forgotten:
Each holds up half the household
Each holds up half the sky.
I have no patience for people who would set men and women against each other as enemies.
We only get through this if we go – together.
Nihilism
Anyone who sincerely follows nihilism is not gonna make it.
I mean… why would you even try? If nothing has value or meaning then there is nothing worth striving for. So if you are a “nihilist” who is working to build wealth or trying to develop yourself, you have by definition ceased to be a nihilist.
You subconsciously acknowledge that your life has value and that you must take action to get closer to a goal.
Actual nihilists are few but the ideals of nihilism are widespread. Lots of folks out here with the snarky humor or ironic quips about how life is meaningless or how nothing matters. LOL.
If that’s how you life life it is a joyless life indeed. It sure would feel meaningless.
Communism
Pick up any book about the history of the 20th century and you will see the most vicious and soulless bloodthirsty killing machine ever devised.
Bizarrely, the Communist will look at the liquidation of the kulas, Holodomor, Great Leap Forward, Khmer Rouge, Cultural Revolution…
And then go, “Oh that wasn’t real communism. REAL communism has yet to be tried. It will definitely work trust me bro, we just need one more shot”.
Ideology is pernicious.
None more so than Communism.
Monoculture
Farms are not meant to be miles and miles of growing one crop. That’s a plantation. Monoculture kills the bees and the little critters. It also destroys topsoil.
Postmodernism
See previous point on nihilism.
Postmodernism could not exist without the obliteration of meaning that occurred through nihilism.
Postmodernism is at root the belief that reality is what we say it is. It is nominalism – a belief that Reality isn’t really real. Things are just what we decide they are, hence can be fluid and change when we decide to change them.
This cannot happen if in your worldview things intrinsically have meaning beyond the names you give them.
Very disastrous.
Capitalism
Capitalism is the single most potent driver of material progress and social improvement the world has ever seen. The world has never seen anything like it, and if we lost it, many people will be worse off.
That said, much of contemporary capitalism is wildly corrupt and beholden to political/ideological interests which have all but defanged it.
We have to envision a world where capitalism is the founding principle of the economic system, but with more regulatory mechanisms to ensure predator corporations and banks don’t get to become Too Big To Fail. Need to think on this more.
I am not a libertarian by any means. Guys, libertarianism is dumb.
The disregard for reading books
Why? Reading inflates the sense of ego and makes everyone think they are smarter than they really are. More people today read than have ever done so in any period of time. More book learning just means less time spent training or working or helping people. It also creates a society of soy nerds.
In all seriousness though, y’all should read more and you know it.
Suffrage
This is not specific so I’m gonna assume you mean universal suffrage.
Democracy is a sham. Divine Monarchy is the only system of governance that has stood the test of time.
Ideally, only one person in a country would vote – that’s the King.
Attempting to strip the ethnic component from Western cultures, mass immigration
I denounce any attempt to deracinate countries.
A country is its people. People are not interchangeable.
You would be laughed out of town if you suggested replacing the population of Ch!na with Bantus yet this is literal government policy in Europe and North America.
Utter foolishness.
Cultures mater.
Borders matter.
People matter.
Reddit users
Self explanatory. We do a little Reddit bashing.
Women
LOL.
As one of the world’s foremost women respectors/supreme gentlemen,
Not taking this seriously.
Corporatism
Please correct me if I’m wrong but I’m understanding this to mean the financialization/corporatization of, well, everything.
Big disaster for the human race. If they have their way they will turn everything under the sun – including the sun itself – into a financial instrument. In 10 years you may even see your own immune system turned into a subscription service. The X-as-a-Service model is aimed at turning everybody into a renter-serf forever.
Nothing wrong with corporations just like nothing wrong with capitalism. Both are tools/vehicles that can be useful. But the current corporate oligarchy culture is blatantly evil and anti-human. We should destroy it before it destroys us.
This is a roundabout way of saying fuck private equity and other rent-seeking entities that extract wealth from actual value creating people. You know, farmers and builders and factory workers. People who make stuff.
Haven’t you ever questioned why it is that the people who sit in offices shuffling spreadsheets and speculating on the stock market make so much more than the people who contribute to the actual economy?
The modern economy is a GAME, and you must get wise to how it is being played or you will end up one of the pieces.
Corporatism culture is like a self-licking ice cream cone. Aspiring PMC striver types throwing the world under the bus to make more money for people who are already rich enough.
The French Revolution
Over the last decade my political views have converged around roughly what the vast majority of people would have considered common sense before 1789.
France had a bad king. Good to depose or kill bad kings. As the Chinese said, the Mandate of Heaven must be restored.
The French’s mistake was not enthroning a better king. They chose demotism instead of rule by the wise. They chose secularism instead of God. Everyone else’s mistake was looking at them and saying, “Hey, that looks like a great idea. Let’s do that too.”
Not knowing how to work until your hands bleed
People underestimate how easy it is to get into the top 10% of any field, given consistent hard work.
Many – not all – problems in life can be solved by shutting up, putting your head down, and just grinding at it.
Like water gradually splits a stone.
Choose suffering before suffering chooses you.
The Industrial Revolution
Salud to the Ted K appreciator in the house who posted this.
The jury is still out IMO. Equally compelling arguments can be made for the IR being good or bad.
What do I personally prefer? To live in our industrial civilization which has produced the most material comfort in history. Life is so rich. When this goes away it will never return.
What do I think is best for human thriving and happiness? Pre-industrial society. Medieval peasants didn’t have smartphones or cheap flights to Tulum but they didn’t need any of it. They worked 150 days a year and enjoyed living in an organic community of people who had common values and culture.
Anesthesia would be a good invention to have in any time period though.
Protestantism
I am Anglican.
Obesity
I don’t see obesity as a root cause, it’s more of a consequence of industrial society and the way the modern food system is set up.
Perverse economic incentives lead to perverse social health outcomes. We subsidize seed oils, palm oil, corn or grain, and high fructose corn syrup. It’s in everything.
Environmental factors also seem to play a large part. There’s synthetic hormones or literal hormone disruptors in the water, the clothing (anything polyester), the plastic furniture, etc.
Restore a sane and healthy food supply and watch obesity rates plummet. This would be a good start.
Transgenderism
Theory: Increasing rates of transgenderism is a physiological and psychological response to an increasingly unnatural environment.
I don’t see transgenderism as a coherent movement or a conspiracy. Not a deliberate one anyway.
I see them as victims, collateral damage. The food is fake and full of soy, surroundings are full of testosterone inhibitors, most jobs are fake and devoid of masculine values, it is more difficult than it has ever been to earn renown and success as a man.
Many weak willed men look at women and think it must be easier to live as a woman, so they choose that life not knowing that being a woman is just as hard. It is cosplay. The ineffable essence of a man and a woman CANNOT be falsely replicated.
They can imitate women’s appearance up to 100% now – indeed it is almost impossible to distinguish if you go to the Philippines or Thailand now.
Personally I think we should let people live their lives as they see fit. The world is big enough for a variety of people. But they will never really BE women. That’s just how it is.
Also, the current push to normalise transgenderism among children in Western nations – absolutely haram. Children and precious and vulnerable. They haven’t even figured our how their bodies and minds work. Incapable of understanding long term consequences of their tiniest decisions, let alone whether they want/need top surgery.
Talking to 9-year olds about sexuality is creepy predatory behavior. If you are an adult or teacher and think it is OK to talk to a minor about their sexuality or body parts, I got news for you..
You are a GROOMER!
Gay “marriage” (legal sodomy)
Marriage is a divine institution binding a man and a woman.
This is what I believe.
If I get cancelled for saying this, so be it.
Convenience
Not a disaster. Convenience is a tool. Tools can be used for good or bad.
When the opportunity for convenience is here, take full advantage of it to get where you want to go faster.
Don’t miss it when it’s gone.
That said, way too many mfs are out here being lazy and complacent. There is value in intentionally choosing to make life harder or more challenging for yourself. Especially in your 20s.
Consumption of seed oils and fake foods
Self explanatory.
Blind belief
Blind belief in anything is a curse.
Science is fallible.
Nature is uncaring.
The universe is cold and vast.
Ideology is man made and a false idol.
Only belief in the one eternal constant in the universe is “seeing”.
If we are oriented towards The Creator, everything else falls into place.
Yidividuals.
