Amen to all of what you wrote. Humanity is being put to a worldwide test by the Great Refiner. I’m seeing a lot of dross in my own life and that is surely painful, but necessary. May your own walk through the flames continue to be guided by the all-wise Lord. Thank you for such a thoughtful article.

“Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth."

Let's give credit where it's due, this comes from Prussia's field marshal Helmuth von Moltke in an essay in 1871. "No plan survives contact with the enemy." (Though he said it in a lengthier way, but it is usually shortened to this.)

Sometimes attributed to General Carl von Clausewitz of the same century. Regarding von Clausewitz, you have probably heard the quote, "War is the continuation of politics by other means," which is used to make him sound cold. He simply meant that war must therefore by ended by solving the political issues which lead to it.

Baron von Clausewitz' writings are interesting, and I recommend to at least look him up in Wikiquote. He noted for example: "The conqueror is always a lover of peace: he would prefer to take over our country unopposed." (He wrote this sarcastically about Napoleon, who always said that he loved peace. Nothing has changed today.)
